Antelope Valley welcomes Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
A program inspired by Dolly Parton’s vision to spark a lifelong love of reading in children everywhere. Thanks to her commitment to early childhood literacy, children from birth to age five receive free, age-appropriate books each month, helping to build strong foundations for learning and imagination.
How do I enroll my child?
Parents and caregivers can enroll their child online using the "Register" button above or by visiting https://imaginationlibrary.com/check-availability/
Do you have books in Spanish or other languages?
Absolutely! Families have the option to select bilingual English and Spanish books when enrolling their child. California is the only state offering Spanish-language books through the program. Currently, no other language options are available.
How long will it take for my child to receive their first book?
Book orders are placed on the first day of the month AFTER your completed registration form is entered into the database and approved. Once the order is placed, your child's first book should arrive within 8–12 weeks.
For example: If we receive your registration on June 15, you'll be included in the July 1 book order. Your book will arrive by the last week of August.
After that, the books will arrive approximately every 30 days, unless your address changes or your child ages out of the program.
One of my children got a book, but the other didn't. What happened?
Books may arrive at different times of the month. After each child has received the first book, subsequent books should arrive by the last day of the month—but not necessarily on the same day.
What happens when my child reaches their graduation month or is already five years old?
When your child reaches their 5th birthday, they will graduate from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Woohoo! They will receive the graduation book, the final one in the program, the month of their 5th birthday as long as they are active in the system with a valid address on file.
In addition to receiving the Graduation Book, children will receive a personalized video message from Dolly on their 5th birthday via the registered email!
Please Note: Any child whose 5th birthday is in the same month that their registration becomes active will not receive the graduation email and will only receive the first book, The Little Engine That Could.
