Title: Clinical Supervisor, LCSW

Department: Welcome Baby (WB)
Hours: Full-time, occasional evenings, and weekend work required
Reports To: Director of Direct Services
Pay: $38.46 – $43.27 per hour

Job Summary: The Clinical Supervisor (CS) will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of Welcome Baby staff. They will supervise Team Supervisors and Registered Nurses and ensure the team members are properly trained and receive reflective supervision. This includes ensuring staff receive one hour of individual reflective supervision per week (4 per month) and 4 hours of group reflective supervision per month (two 2-hour sessions). They will also provide overall accountability for the program.

Education and Experience: 

  • Education as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  
  • At least two years of experience providing reflective supervision. 
  • At least two years of experience in maternal and child home visitation. 
  • At least two years administrative experience as a supervisor. 
  • Certified lactation educator (CLE) or certified lactation counselor (CLC) at a minimum; or  certification must be completed within six months of hire; alternately staff may be certified  lactation consultant (CLC) or international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC/RLC).  

Qualifications Preferred: 

  • Experience with providing client-centered services and continuous assessment of staff skills  to identify areas that need special attention. 
  • At least five years of experience working in maternal and child health, preferred. Ability to oversee preparation of team members through training, direct supervision, chart  review, and weekly case review. 
  • Knowledge of normal fetal, infant, and toddler development; maternal and child health; and  early childhood education best practices. 
  • Knowledge about local community resources and ability to refer families to appropriate  agencies.  
  • Experience working with families from diverse age, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Empathy, warmth, and the ability to establish trusting supportive relationships with an  ethnically diverse population. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Ability to conduct a strength-based family assessment across a broad spectrum of areas  using a validated, standardized tool administered in the prescribed manner.
  • Skill in organizing and maintaining complete, accurate records and filing reports in a timely  manner.
  • Skill in writing to articulate concepts and ideas in notes and reports.

  • Ability to communicate in the language(s) represented in the community to be served  preferred. 
  • Familiarity with the effects of domestic violence and parental alcohol and/or other drug  abuse on family health, parenting, and general functioning. 

Key Position Responsibilities:  

  • Familiarity with the effects of perinatal depression on child development, parenting, and  general functioning. 
  • Supports and trains staff on identifying client strengths, needs, barriers and risks and identifies community resources for families in need. 
  • Provides reflective supervision for individual staff on a weekly basis and a biweekly group  basis for all home visitation staff. 
  • Works closely with the Program Director to implement documentation, training, procedures,  policies and protocols. 
  • Ensures the quality of the program by overseeing services provided through periodic  shadowing of home visits and conducting regular chart reviews. 
  • Works closely with the Outreach Specialist(s) conducting outreach and Hospital Liaisons to  track enrollment of new clients and assign cases to Parent Coaches and Welcome Baby  Nurses in a timely manner. 
  • Tracks client enrollment and forecasts upcoming visits in order to assign cases and monitor  visits for each Parent Coach and Welcome Baby Nurse in a fair and equitable manner. Provides consultation to all program staff on high-risk clinical issues such as mental illness,  developmental delays, child abuse and family violence to ensure that the needed support  and follow-up is provided.  
  • Conducts ongoing team building activities to enhance employee relations and teamwork.  Mentors and assists with ongoing training of employees to ensure that they are modeling  empathy and providing holistic and strength-based services. 
  • Explores and identifies new referrals and resources for clients.  
  • Assists with and provides ongoing staff development related to the issues and needs of  clients such as maternal and infant health, breastfeeding, parenting, attachment, home  safety, family planning and child development. 
  • Participate in periodic Peer to Peer workshops, webinars and conference calls; and Welcome  Baby and Home Visitation regional meetings. 
  • Complete Welcome Baby training required for Clinical supervisor within one year of hire. Knowledge of structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and  spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar 
  • Knowledge of office practices, processes, and computer software programs Knowledge of scheduling and coordinating 
  • Ability to work remotely/virtually 
  • Ability to work independently and with little to no supervision
  • Ability to plan and effectively manage complex, long-term projects 
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work 
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work area 
  • Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports 
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of client and department information Ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations 
  • Conforms with and supports organization’s quality assurance and improvement guidelines Supports and adheres to the values and mission statement established by the AVPH Board of  Directors.  
  • All other duties as assigned  

Required Licensure and/or Certifications: 

  • Current and maintained CA driver’s license 
  • Current/maintained auto insurance 
  • Own transportation for work-related purposes 
  • Maintain California professional licensure. 
  • Current and maintained infant and adult CPR 
  • Meet basic health requirements, background check, and physical job standards Must have TB clearance and COVID Vaccine 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 

  • Primarily an office environment; with hybrid – remote option 
  • Employee will be required to sit, perform repetitive physical and mental activities, have face to-face and telephone contact with individuals, work with others in a group or team, and  work with external customers or the public.  
  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  • Work may be performed under stressful and emotional conditions.

Home Visitation Program

The Home Visitation program is a one-on-one visit between the expectant mother and the family support specialist. The visits can be scheduled during pregnancy or after birth, depending on the needs of each family. Visits are typically conducted weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly as determined by the family support work (FSS).
