The CalFresh Program, formally known as Food Stamps Program, is a Nutrition Assistance Program that helps low-income individuals and families buy the food they need for good health. A person who is approved to receive CalFresh benefits is issued an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, just like an ATM card, to purchase food at various supermarkets or grocery stores. Coupons are no longer issued in Los Angeles County.

Eligibility – You may be eligible for CalFresh benefits if you:

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) serves pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants and children under the age of five who are low to moderate income (up to 185% of the federal poverty level) and at nutrition risk. Special checks are given to participants to buy healthy foods from WIC-authorized vendors.

Categorical Eligibility – To be eligible for the WIC program, a person must meet categorical and income requirements.

Women
Pregnant women
Breastfeeding women (up to the infant’s first birthday)
Postpartum women up to six months after giving birth

Infants
Up to the infant’s first birthday

Children
Up to the child’s fifth birthday
