The United We Mentor program helps to empower youth in the Antelope Valley community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. The mentoring program is looking for volunteers age 18 and above who are willing to commit to being a friend to a young person for a period of at least one year. Youth, ages 7-17, can be referred to the program by parents, schools, and community organizations serving families and youth. United We Mentor (UWM) is offering group mentoring sessions that are held once a month in the AVPH Conference Room. The workshops consist of guided activities in which everyone is participating. Some activities will be fun and will help people laugh together. Other activities will help people get to know each other, practice communication skills, build self-confidence, learn how to resolve conflicts, and other important life skills.
