Positive Behavior in Schools

The goal of the Positive Behavior Program (PBIS) at Piute & New Vista Middle Schools is to increase student time in the classroom, promote engagement in learning, and increased student success. During the past few years the rate of suspension and office referrals at Piute & New Vista Middle school has led to students missing a large amount of instructional time. The purpose of implementing a positive behavior approach is to use evidence based behavioral interventions to enhance academic and social behavior outcomes for students. AVPH conducts student clubs where students have the opportunity to participate in leadership, community and youth development activities and learn how to support the implementation of PBIS on their school campus.
